I became interested in working with childbearing women after the birth of my first child by cesarean section. In my pursuit for information on how to achieve a more positive experience in the future, I developed a keen appreciation and respect for women's inherent ability to mother their children. The seed was planted for my desire to provide birthing mothers with the informational and emotional support they need to realize that potential and achieve more empowering transitions into motherhood.
I have three years experience practicing as a certified as a birth doula through
DONA (Doulas
of North American), as a
childbirth educator through
CAPPA
(Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association) and as a midwife's
assistant. I am also currently chapter coordinator for the
Colorado Chapter of ICAN (The International
Cesarean Awareness Network).
My husband and I had our second child at home with the assistance of midwives and the invaluable support of a doula. Both of my children were breastfed.
